The procedure of canonization could also be studied to see how the opinion of others is expressed during the investigations wich gather the information on wich the religious authorities can base their decision. The process is clearly similar to that of an opinion poll on fama sanctitatis. Those pursuing the inquiry do not ask: “Do you think X is a saint?” but: “Do you think that people think he is a saint?”
